USU Opens Recruitment for Audit Committee Candidates for the 2025–2030 Term

The selection process for the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) for the 2026–2031 term has now reached the administrative screening stage. This stage was conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025, following the official closure of registration on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM. The Chairperson of the Screening and Election Committee for Candidates for Rector of USU 2026–2031, Prof. Dr. Tamrin, M.Sc., explained that by the end of the registration period, 14 (fourteen) individuals had collected the application forms.

Out of the 14 registrants, 9 (nine) candidates submitted their application documents by the deadline. They are:
Following the administrative screening of these nine Rector candidates, the Committee declared that 8 (eight) candidates successfully passed the administrative selection, having fulfilled all the stipulated requirements.

Accordingly, the eight candidates are entitled to proceed to the Audition Stage, which serves as a forum for presenting the Rector Candidates’ Work Programs, aligned with the vision and mission of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The Audition Stage will be held on September 24, 2025, at the USU Auditorium. This forum is expected to serve as a healthy, open, and constructive space where each candidate can present strategic ideas to advance Universitas Sumatera Utara as an excellent, innovative, and globally competitive State University with Legal Entity status.
In presenting their work programs, each candidate is required to uphold the values of national unity and maintain a conducive atmosphere during the audition. Candidates are prohibited from making inflammatory remarks, engaging in issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup relations (SARA), or discrediting other candidates. They are expected to participate in the Rector election process in accordance with regulations and ethical standards, as the university stands at the forefront of national civilization.
Candidates are urged to prioritize the vision and mission of advancing USU, competing healthily, and refraining from character assassination of their competitors solely for the sake of ambition. In this way, the entire Rector election process for the 2026–2031 term will truly become a contest of ideas rather than bad opinions, reflecting a dignified academic tradition.
The Committee reaffirms its commitment to conducting all stages of the screening and election based on the principles of accountability, transparency, and professionalism, ensuring that the election of the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara proceeds in a healthy, democratic, and dignified manner.
