MEDAN – USU Public Relations: The 2018 Constitution and Anti-Corruption Festival, organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MK RI), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK RI), and the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), presented a variety of engaging activities beyond the main discussions such as the Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and talk shows. Among them were exhibitions, traditional dance performances, and choral presentations representing various ethnic groups from North Sumatra.

The event, held at the USU Auditorium, featured multiple exhibition booths, including those by MK RI, KPK RI, MPR RI, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP USU), and the USU Archives Office.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Dr. Anwar Usman, S.H., M.H.; Chairman of the MPR RI represented by the Head of the MPR Research Body, Dr. H. Bambang Sadono, S.H., M.H.; Chairman of the KPK, Agus Rahardjo; Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah, S.H., M.H.; the USU Rector; the Chair of the USU Board of Trustees; and several other guests enthusiastically visited each booth and listened attentively to the explanations provided.

At the Constitutional Court booth, the state officials and the USU Rector wrote special messages and signed their names. They then proceeded to the KPK booth, where they signed a giant anti-corruption-themed Monopoly board and briefly listened to a presentation at the MPR RI booth. The group also visited the FISIP USU booth, which displayed scientific books authored by USU lecturers. They were welcomed directly by the Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Muriyanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., who had also spoken in one of the FGD sessions the previous day. Meanwhile, the USU Archives Office showcased an exhibition titled "USU Rectors Through the Ages," featuring a collection of rector portraits and historical photos.

During the peak of the event, energetic dance performances by USU students representing various ethnic groups in North Sumatra captivated the audience, drawing enthusiastic applause from thousands of attendees. The event closed with a stirring choral performance.

Overall, the festival—hosted by USU this year—was a resounding success. The USU Rector expressed his gratitude for the smooth organization of the event, especially considering the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by students and the general public. Long lines of attendees were seen outside the venue, waiting to enter.

“The high enthusiasm shown, especially by students, is a positive sign that the young generation—our future national leaders—still deeply cares about this country. They are contributing to the promotion of a democratic, anti-corruption society that upholds the constitution,” said the Rector during the event. The event also featured the announcement of winners from a previously held blog competition.
