Jakarta, June 13, 2025 — The Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat/MWA) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially appointed its new leadership for the 2025–2030 term during a Plenary Meeting held in Jakarta on Friday (13/06). In a democratic session marked by a collegial spirit, retired Police General Drs. Agus Andrianto, SH, MH, was unanimously elected as Chairperson of USU's MWA. The former Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police, who now serves as the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, was entrusted to lead the university's highest governing body.

The meeting, attended by 17 elected MWA members, also resulted in Prof. Dr. Tamrin, M.Sc., being appointed as Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the same term. Both leaders are expected to carry out strategic responsibilities supporting USU's transformation into a world-class university.
In his remarks, Prof. dr. Guslihan Dasa Tjipta, Sp. A(K), who concluded his term as MWA Secretary for the 2020–2025 period, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and dedication shown by all parties over the past five years. He congratulated the newly appointed leadership and expressed hope that their presence would bring renewed energy and innovation to the university's governance.
"The Board of Trustees plays a strategic role in advancing good university governance. We are confident that this new leadership will usher in a spirit of change and reinforce our shared commitment to the progress of Universitas Sumatera Utara," said Prof. Guslihan.
On the same occasion, Prof. Guslihan handed over the End-of-Term Memorandum, which serves as an official report and accountability document for his tenure. The document, prepared in a structured manner, was formally submitted to the newly appointed Chairperson and Secretary as part of the institutional transition process.
