Key points from the visit will be brought to the next MWA meeting, particularly concerning HR needs and equipment development to support the hospital’s growth further.

In his remarks, USU Rector Prof. Runtung Sitepu emphasized that USU Hospital and the Dental and Oral Hospital under the Faculty of Dentistry are academic support units, not business entities. Thus, the focus moving forward is to position the hospital as a referral and model institution and a future national center for science, technology, and medical-health development (IPTEKDOKKES).

USU Hospital President Director, Dr. dr. Syah Mirsya Warli explained the structural differences between hospital and faculty governance—particularly that hospitals must undergo annual accreditation, while faculties are accredited every five years—necessitating synchronization.

USU Hospital is also one of the university’s first green buildings, designed with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in mind.

Currently, the hospital operates 17 specialty clinics, including:
Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Dermatology and Venereology, Cardiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pediatric Surgery, Growth and Development, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, and Anesthesiology.
There are currently 109 operational inpatient beds, with an additional 56 beds to be added soon.

USU Hospital has also begun developing sub-specialty services such as gastroenterohepatology, nephrology, hemato-oncology, geriatrics, and more. (Public Relations)
